About Us

Who We Are

We empower rural families to turn hunger and poverty into hope, dignity and prosperity – but our approach is based on revolving livestock model that leads to “Farm to Table” movement, where our beneficiaries break the vicious cycle of chronic poverty in just 18 months and are becoming the shareholders and long-term suppliers to AMDEN.

AMDEN is a social enterprise working in Pakistan with envisions to eradicating chronic poverty/hunger through agriculture based revolving livestock model based on “Fund to Table” approach. AMDEN invest in rural people, empowering them to reduce extreme poverty, increase food security, nutrition and strengthen resilience.

The poorest, chronically food insecure households, with irregular income and little or no assets are often excluded from development interventions including microcredit.

What We Do

Chronically poor households are identified and offered a base package of 3 goats and 10 poultry for farming along with seeds for organic kitchen gardening. In a time span of 18 months 5 goat off-springs and 15 poultry birds are recovered from each household and the base package is transferred to the household in the next cycle. The excess is sold to meet the operational cost of the program, making it self-sustainable. To facilitate this, members of the household are trained in goat farming, poultry farming and kitchen gardening.

The households consume the produce according to their needs which includes goat milk, eggs, organic chicken, mutton and organic vegetables and sell the excess

Once, Sughran was mired in poverty because there were no jobs for illiterate women in the city where she lived. After joining a AMDEN project she received the skills, training and, most importantly, opportunity that she needed to succeed. Now, she has doubled her income by raising goats and poultry chicks!
  • Goat Milk Benefits; It's easier to digest. It has fewer allergenic proteins and causes less inflammation. It's high in calcium and fatty acids but low in cholesterol. It keeps skin looking good. It absorbs nutrients and minerals better than cows' milk.
  • Goats are a gift worth giving! They provide enough nutritious milk each day for an entire family, with enough left over to sell for income. With this "milk money," Sumaiya's family was able to send her to school..
